How can data be leveraged to create innovative solutions that boost tourism in the Northern Territory, attract more visitors, and/or enhance their cultural experience?
The Northern Territory is a region of incredible natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and unique experiences. Despite its attractions, the NT faces challenges in attracting and retaining visitors compared to more traditional tourist destinations in Australia. This challenge invites participants to develop fun and creative solutions using data to enhance tourism in the NT.
The aim is to create a digital tool, platform, or conceptual strategy that increases the visibility and appeal of the NT through cultural tourism. Consider existing data for public events, tourism attractions and locations, national parks, etc. Think of an easy to use/explore tool or trip planner, which could bring additional content, such as travel costs, what to bring, wear, what to do and so on. Think gamification (NT businesses could be opened to offering deals linked to the solutions of this tool).
These are only suggestions to get you started. We are looking for bright and fresh ideas on how to take tourism in NT to the next level!
The Department of Corporate and Digital Development is interested in how data and digital solutions are used to address this challenge. We value innovation and the different approaches to improving tourism in NT.
