Best Digital Twin solution that enables community organisations to plan, manage, monitor and evaluate their environmental improvement initiatives

We want to encourage cities to capture their city’s activities, with live engaged data, that is presented as a Digital Twin interface.

We would like teams to enable the building of city digital twins by providing a conversion of data from Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), or any other open Govt data to 3D models, that can be rendered in any reality / game engine i.e. Unity 3D, Unreal, Gedot.

Choose part of the city to measure. Track the erosion of sand dunes? Visualise the pollution levels of the air in winter? Showing the past city state, the future city state (eg. planned buildings)?

The Unity community / store has lots of features to support digital twin projects. From managing 3D data importation,, Ingesting Live Data with a library of plugins, and Data visualisation techniques with particles, you can develop digital twin applications.can also integrate live data including city geometry into your scenes through Cesium ( You can find out more information about UE and Digital Twins here:

If you don't have a Unity dev you can focus on leaving behind a process/code to go from the data to the 3D model. We can provide licenses to Trimble Virtual World. A 3D viewing application for digital twins.

Note - Open source resources such as Unity 3D engine, QGIS and ArcGIS are available with some of these having LINZ extraction tools available.

Teams are encouraged to open up data conversions from Govt open data sources by providing a web service that will deliver 3D models from a Govt data source to any application that calls it, using standard 3D file format. Showcase this web service via Unity 3D or your chosen engine.
