Project Description

Our app is designed to be a tool for the common citizen of all ages to use to report any issues in a public area to the government which would make it easier for the government to resolve these issues. For example, if there was an overflowing bin somewhere someone from the general public would be able to report it. From there it would be messaged to the waste disposal company. If this problem keeps occurring, then the government could add more bins in that area which should hopefully solve the problem. Another feature is the smart waste bins. This is an idea we had where the public bins would have a QR code sticker that you would be able to scan with the app on your phone and then as you deposit trash you would be able to scan the barcode on it. If you scanned both things and the sensor in the bin detected the rubbish going in, you would be rewarded with a certain amount of money or a badge type system. The app is also capable of keeping the user up to date with COVID-19 news, available parking spots, and could also help you locate public spaces near you.

Data Story

We have used all these data sets in our app, and we could use a lot more. On the data website there are hundreds of possible data sets which we could use. If we added all of these then our app would work a lot better, and it would be a lot more useful.

Team DataSets

Open Street Map

Description of Use This would be the base of the map in the app which we would add to using other data sets.

Data Set

Albany CBD Parking

Description of Use We have used it in our app. There is a section where people can find parking bays around the CBD and where they are.

Data Set

Manningham Parks and Open Space

Description of Use This would be added to our map to provide more information to the people using the app. This would benefit people that live in Manningham and people that might be going to Manningham.

Data Set

Parking Zones - Greater Shepparton

Description of Use We would use this on our map to show were people could park if they wanted to go to a park or public space. It would also be helpful to tourists who do not know where parking is around the city.

Data Set

Ipswich Parks and Reserves

Description of Use This would be added to our map to provide more information to the people using the app. Like most of the other data sets we would add this to the map in our app.

Data Set

Brimbank Parks and Open Spaces

Description of Use This would be added to our map to provide more information to the people using the app. The more information there is on the map the better it would work.
