Project Description
Navigating government services during life’s most critical moments — like having a baby, losing a job, or facing a disaster — can be overwhelming. For someone who doesn’t have the time or skills to sort through large amounts of information on the internet about accessing government services, an app that provides a concise set of accurate information from different agencies would be very useful. AI Life-Event Navigator does exactly that: it uses verified government data and generative AI to provide step-by-step guidance and a trusted Q&A assistant, making services simpler, smarter, and more human-centred.
Data Story
When people experience major life events — like having a baby, losing a job, or becoming a carer — they’re often under stress and don’t have the time, skills, or energy to sift through multiple government websites. The information they need is scattered across different agencies, lengthy, and sometimes confusing to navigate.
This project tackles that problem by scraping and summarising official .gov.au pages into a single structured dataset (life_events.json). Instead of overwhelming people with everything, the app provides only the minimum set of necessary, verified information from different government agencies, organised step-by-step.
The result is an AI Life-Event Navigator: a tool that gives people exactly what they need, when they need it — concise guidance, key actions, and trusted links — without the burden of searching and piecing together information themselves.
